In the first Viaport Expo, we designed the entrance area where the sponsoring companies were located. We installed the welcome desk in the middle of the area so that all the guests could reach it easily from all directions. Aside from the welcome desk, another special area was prepared for the press members.
The public is more familiar with bad design than good design. It is, in effect, conditioned to prefer bad design, because that is what it lives with. The new becomes threatening, the old reassuring.
